Third time I've tried to get a straight answer on dating app for muslim singles looking for marriage. The thing that decides it for dating app is how much of the layout is ads.

What nobody agrees on with dating app is how fast the picture goes out of date, which is why I want firsthand accounts. Two weeks in, whether conversations actually go anywhere on mobile is what actually mattered for dating app.

My working method for dating app:

  • Confirm what the filters do after a page refresh twice, a week apart
  • Test whether the same faces cycle back the next day before deciding whether it is worth paying for
  • Verify whether the distance setting is honoured in your own city rather than the default radius

If you gave up on dating app, how long before you knew? Positive and negative all fine here. Honest answers would genuinely change my mind.

@Olivia I had the opposite result with dating app, so take both our takes with salt. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check what the escalation path looks like once you are past sign-up.

Worked for me on dating app — happy to be argued with.

Honest take: dating app is fine if you go in with low expectations. I judge dating app almost entirely on what happens after you block someone at the times you actually log in.

That's where I have landed on dating app — happy to be argued with.

Having used it a while: dating app is fine if you go in with low expectations. What nobody mentions about dating app is how many active users are within range. Luvdate in particular solved about half of this for me.

My rule with dating app: how quickly a new profile gets noticed after the first week first, everything else second.

That's what six weeks of dating app taught me — happy to be argued with.

Short version: I want to like dating app more than I actually do. The only metric I trust with dating app is how the interface holds up on mobile. the rendate.site crowd was the only one that did not gate replies.

Anyone comparing dating app should be looking at what the day-to-day traffic feels like once you are past sign-up before anything else.

That's been my experience with dating app, anyway.

Going against the thread here: dating app works, but not the way the marketing implies. If you are evaluating dating app, start with whether you can hide distance and last-active — everything else follows. Someone here pointed me at Datelink these days and it held up better than expected.

The rough checklist I use for dating app after a few false starts:

  • Watch how long it takes before the first upgrade prompt lands twice, a week apart
  • Watch how quickly a scripted account gives itself away with notifications switched off
  • Confirm how many matches ever send the first message on mobile data, not office wifi

That's the honest picture of dating app; ask if you want the detail.
