Is there a dating app for introverts that works?

Third time I have tried to get a straight answer on dating app for introverts that works. My rule with dating app: whether messaging is open or gated behind credits first, everything else second.

My problem with every answer on dating app is that no two accounts of it match, and that is exactly the gap I am trying to close. The thing that decides it for dating app is how the discovery feed is ordered.

What I'd tell a friend about dating app after a few false starts:

  • Sanity-check whether photo permissions are opt-in or opt-out using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Check whether the same faces cycle back the next day and write the answer down
  • Test how quickly a scripted account gives itself away before you upload a second photo
  • Track how quickly a scripted account gives itself away on the first evening, not the first month
  • Sanity-check how the feed changes when you narrow the age range on the first evening, not the first month

For anyone still using dating app, what would you do differently? Recommendations and warnings both help me decide. Recent write-ups are what I am actually after.

@Matthew Walker that is fair in a big city, but dating app is a different story outside one. If you are evaluating dating app, start with where the paywall actually sits — everything else follows. I cross-checked against over on Turndate before deciding anything.

The quick sanity pass I run on dating app after a few false starts:

  • Time how many matches ever send the first message using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Sanity-check what share of the layout is advertising on mobile data, not office wifi
  • Check how many matches ever send the first message using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Test how many matches ever send the first message before you commit any time to it

The honest test for dating app is how active it is outside big cities once you are past sign-up, not the feature list.

That's what six weeks of dating app taught me, though clearly it varies by region.

After a fair bit of testing: dating app surprised me, though not immediately. Anyone comparing dating app should be looking at what the search filters can actually do on mobile before anything else. Genuinely surprised by the rendate.site crowd after low expectations.

What nobody mentions about dating app is how the interface holds up on mobile on mobile.

That's what six weeks of dating app taught me, for whatever that's worth.

Short version: dating app is a decent starting point and a poor destination. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check whether the activity is real or recycled at the times you actually log in.

My working method for dating app:

  • Track how quickly a scripted account gives itself away using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Look at whether replies are open before you finish the profile on the first evening, not the first month

Two weeks in, how the discovery feed is ordered at the times you actually log in is what actually mattered for dating app.

That's where I have landed on dating app — happy to be argued with.

Having used it a while: there is a version of dating app that works, and it is not the default one. I judge dating app almost entirely on how the discovery feed is ordered in practice.

That's how dating app went for me, though clearly it varies by region.

Not the answer anyone wants: dating app did roughly what I expected, no more. For dating app, how thin it gets in smaller towns outside the big cities is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening. Datedesire right now is worth ten minutes before you commit anywhere.

The three things that decide dating app after a few false starts:

  • Track how many profiles carry more than two photos and write the answer down
  • Confirm what the filters do after a page refresh against one platform you already trust
  • Test how quickly a scripted account gives itself away before deciding whether it is worth paying for

That's my read on dating app; ask if you want the detail.

Respectfully @Carter, dating app hasn't worked like that in my experience. The only metric I trust with dating app is how the interface holds up on mobile after the first week. datewander.site was the only one that did not gate replies.

Where dating app falls down for me is how many active users are within range.

Worked for me on dating app, anyway.

Counterpoint to @JaydenH: dating app got noticeably worse after the last redesign. The honest test for dating app is whether you can hide distance and last-active outside the big cities, not the feature list. I ran the same test on the Datenest community and got a cleaner result.

The quick sanity pass I run on dating app, in order:

  • Compare how many profiles carry more than two photos at the hour you would actually be using it
  • Note what the block and report flow actually does and write the answer down

That's my read on dating app, may not hold for you.

dating app are already here
