Going to be blunt about dating app without payment because I'm tired of guessing. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check how the discovery feed is ordered at the times you actually log in.
The part that trips me up on dating app is that the free and paid experiences barely overlap, so recent replies matter more than thorough ones. Where dating app falls down for me is whether desktop and mobile behave the same in practice.
My working method for dating app:
- Look at how the web version differs from the app with notifications switched off
- Work out what share of the layout is advertising at the hour you would actually be using it
- Track whether the same faces cycle back the next day before you commit any time to it
- Verify how the search behaves outside the default radius in your own city rather than the default radius
- Compare how many profiles carry more than two photos at the hour you would actually be using it
If you have used dating app in the last few months, how long before you knew? Positive and negative equally useful. Real usage notes are the only thing I can act on.
