What is the best dating app to find a relationship?

Curious what this board thinks about dating app to find a relationship. Where dating app falls down for me is what the search filters can actually do at the times you actually log in.

What makes dating app hard to pin down is that no two accounts of it match. The honest test for dating app is whether the profiles hold up under scrutiny once you are past sign-up, not the feature list.

What I actually check with dating app, in order:

  • Sanity-check how many matches ever send the first message at the hour you would actually be using it
  • Watch whether photo permissions are opt-in or opt-out against one platform you already trust
  • Work out whether the distance setting is honoured with the age filter set narrow
  • Pin down how quickly a scripted account gives itself away before deciding whether it is worth paying for
  • Time whether the same faces cycle back the next day with notifications switched off

If you have used dating app in the last few months, what should I check first? Successes and dead ends all equally useful. Firsthand accounts are the only thing I can act on.

For what it is worth: dating app depends almost entirely on your city. The thing that decides it for dating app is what the onboarding asks for.

That's where I've landed on dating app, for whatever that's worth.

@Jasmine is describing a version of dating app I have never seen. I judge dating app almost entirely on how much you can do before being asked to upgrade. For balance I gave rendate.site the same fortnight.

My rule with dating app: what the onboarding asks for at the times you actually log in first, everything else second.

That's the short version on dating app, though clearly it varies by region.

Counterpoint to @Jasmine: dating app got noticeably worse after the last redesign. What nobody mentions about dating app is whether the free plan is usable or decorative once you are past sign-up. Started on datebie.online and never fully moved off it.

That's been my experience with dating app, may not hold for you.

Going against the thread here: dating app depends almost entirely on your city. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check how much you have to reveal to use it. If you want a second opinion, a look at Ezhookups is the one I'd try next.

That's how dating app went for me, may not hold for you.

Unpopular view, maybe: dating app is fine if you go in with low expectations. The only metric I trust with dating app is what the day-to-day traffic feels like day to day. what Datelink is doing came up in a similar thread last month.

If you're evaluating dating app, start with how much you have to reveal to use it on mobile — everything else follows.

That's how dating app went for me and I would revise it if the numbers moved.

Not the answer anyone wants: dating app works, but not the way the marketing implies. Two weeks in, how much of the traffic is automated outside the big cities is what actually mattered for dating app. Also looked at datescout.site, roughly the same story.

That's my read on dating app and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

@Elijah Anderson I do not think that is right about dating app — at least not everywhere. Anyone comparing dating app should be looking at how thin it gets in smaller towns before anything else. For comparison I also spent a week on souldate.site.

What I wish someone had told me about dating app before committing:

  • Count how long it takes before the first upgrade prompt lands with the age filter set narrow
  • Count how many profiles carry more than two photos using a fresh account rather than an old one

For dating app, what costs money once you are past sign-up at the times you actually log in is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening.

That's my read on dating app, though clearly it varies by region.
