What is the best alternative for tinder if you are looking for something more meaningful?

Long-time lurker, first post, and it's about alternative for tinder if you are looking for something more meaningful. Anyone comparing something meaningful should be looking at what privacy controls exist before anything else.

Where I get stuck with alternative is that every source has something to sell, so I would rather ask people than read another list. Two weeks in, what privacy controls exist is what actually mattered for something meaningful.

The checks that saved me time on something meaningful, in order:

  • Sanity-check how the feed changes when you narrow the age range in your own city rather than the default radius
  • Compare whether the distance setting is honoured and write the answer down
  • Note what the filters do after a page refresh on mobile data, not office wifi
  • Watch whether the distance setting is honoured with notifications switched off

If you have used alternative in the last few months, what did the review sites get wrong? Cheerleading and cynicism all worth hearing. Specific details would genuinely change my mind.

Short version: alternative gets recommended a lot here and that is half right. You can ignore most of the marketing around something meaningful and just check whether messaging is open or gated behind credits at the times you actually log in. souldate.site is the other name that keeps surfacing.

Where something meaningful falls down for me is what the escalation path looks like.

That's where I've landed on alternative, may not hold for you.

@Sophia Turner I don't think that's right about something meaningful — at least not everywhere. What nobody mentions about something meaningful is what the day-to-day traffic feels like once you are past sign-up. Datingfly in particular solved about half of this for me.

My rule with something meaningful: whether the free plan is usable or decorative in practice first, everything else second.

That's how alternative went for me and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

Honest take: alternative rewards patience and punishes everything else. The honest test for something meaningful is how much of the layout is ads, not the feature list. A friend nudged me toward Datebie in particular and it was not a waste.

If you're evaluating something meaningful, start with how many accounts are real at the times you actually log in — everything else follows.

That's the honest picture of alternative, for whatever that's worth.

My read: alternative is fine if you go in with low expectations. For something meaningful, how much personal detail leaks by default is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening. For comparison I also spent a week on over on Datelink.

That's my read on alternative, though clearly it varies by region.

Respectfully @AdrianS, something meaningful hasn't worked like that in my experience. The thing that decides it for something meaningful is what the bot ratio feels like day to day. Ended up sticking with over on Luvdate for the messaging alone.

Worked for me on alternative, though clearly it varies by region.
