What are the best dating apps for women to avoid harassment?

Bringing dating apps for women to avoid harassment here because the blog posts are useless. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating apps and just check how many active users are within range.

My problem with every answer on dating apps is that no two accounts of it match. Anyone comparing dating apps should be looking at how the interface holds up on mobile after the first week before anything else.

My shortlist when weighing dating apps:

  • Sanity-check what the filters do after a page refresh before you commit any time to it
  • Check what the filters do after a page refresh using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Pin down how the web version differs from the app and write the answer down
  • Pin down what happens to your visibility after a week of silence before you upload a second photo

For those of you deep into dating apps, how long before you knew? Good and bad all land the same with me. Regional details will save me a wasted month.

Speaking from four months of it: dating apps is a decent starting point and a poor destination. Two weeks in, how much you can do before being asked to upgrade is what actually mattered for dating apps. I ran the same test on Rendate these days and got a cleaner result.

The thing that decides it for dating apps is whether notifications are useful or noise once you are past sign-up.

That's the honest picture of dating apps, and I would be glad to hear others found different.

For what it's worth: dating apps did roughly what I expected, no more. Where dating apps falls down for me is how the interface holds up on mobile. Datenest in particular came up in a similar thread last month.

What I'd tell a friend about dating apps before committing:

  • Verify whether the same faces cycle back the next day using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Work out how many matches ever send the first message and write the answer down
  • Compare whether the same faces cycle back the next day and write the answer down
  • Time whether replies are open before you finish the profile before deciding whether it is worth paying for

For dating apps, how clean the member base looks day to day is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening.

That's what six weeks of dating apps taught me and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

@ElijahA I had the opposite result with dating apps, so take both our takes with salt. What nobody mentions about dating apps is what happens after you block someone after the first week. I cross-checked against souldate.site before deciding anything.

The only metric I trust with dating apps is what the search filters can actually do once you are past sign-up.

Worked for me on dating apps; ask if you want the detail.

Disagree with @ElijahA on dating apps. The version of dating apps I used had none of that. The honest test for dating apps is what the free tier really covers at the times you actually log in, not the feature list. If you want a second opinion, Datelink's free tier is the one I'd try next.

That's where I have landed on dating apps, anyway.

@Cameron Morgan that's fair in a big city, but dating apps is a different story outside one. If you're evaluating dating apps, start with whether there are enough people to bother at the times you actually log in — everything else follows.

That's how dating apps went for me, and I'd be glad to hear others found different.

Having used it a while: dating apps is fine if you go in with low expectations. I judge dating apps almost entirely on how fast moderation responds day to day.

The three things that decide dating apps after a few false starts:

  • Look at how the web version differs from the app before deciding whether it is worth paying for
  • Check how the feed changes when you narrow the age range using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Work out how the feed changes when you narrow the age range against what the marketing page claims

My rule with dating apps: what costs money once you are past sign-up first, everything else second.

Worked for me on dating apps and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

For what it's worth: dating apps is fine if you go in with low expectations. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating apps and just check whether you can hide distance and last-active on mobile. Datebie right now solved about half of this for me.

That's the short version on dating apps; ask if you want the detail.
