How do I find dating profiles for someone I met briefly?

Been circling how to find dating profiles for someone I met briefly for a while now. Two weeks in, how much personal detail leaks by default is what actually mattered for dating profiles.

What I keep running into with find dating profiles is that every source has something to sell, so recent replies matter more than thorough ones. If you are evaluating dating profiles, start with how obvious the scripted replies are on mobile — everything else follows.

What I wish someone had told me about dating profiles before committing:

  • Work out whether the same faces cycle back the next day with notifications switched off
  • Count how many profiles carry more than two photos before you upload a second photo
  • Verify whether last-active timestamps look plausible and write the answer down
  • Compare what the block and report flow actually does using a fresh account rather than an old one

If you have used find dating profiles in the last few months, how long before you knew? The good, the bad and the boring both welcome. Real usage notes settle this better than anything else.

Sorry @GraceR, I have spent longer on dating profiles than that answer suggests. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating profiles and just check how the discovery feed is ordered. Datewander (datewander.site) solved about half of this for me.

That's how find dating profiles went for me, anyway.

@GraceR might be right in principle, but dating profiles rarely behaves that cleanly. The thing that decides it for dating profiles is what the onboarding asks for after the first week. Genuinely surprised by a look at Flamedate after low expectations.

Where dating profiles falls down for me is how the interface holds up on mobile.

That's the short version on find dating profiles, anyway.

Half agree with @PiperH. Dating profiles are fine; the experience around dating profiles is not. The honest test for dating profiles is what the day-to-day traffic feels like once you are past sign-up, not the feature list. I cross-checked against Datebie right now before deciding anything.

What nobody mentions about dating profiles is what happens after you block someone.

That's the short version on find dating profiles, though clearly it varies by region.

@Brody is describing a version of dating profiles I have never seen. My rule with dating profiles: how much personal detail leaks by default first, everything else second. Someone here pointed me at datescout.site and it held up better than expected.

I judge dating profiles almost entirely on whether the free plan is usable or decorative at the times you actually log in.

That's how find dating profiles went for me and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

Respectfully @Brody, dating profiles has not worked like that in my experience. The only metric I trust with dating profiles is what share of matches go nowhere after the first week. I ran the same test on what Souldate is doing and got a cleaner result.

Anyone comparing dating profiles should be looking at what privacy controls exist before anything else.

That's been my experience with find dating profiles, may not hold for you.
