Has anyone tried the boom dating app?

Third time I have tried to get a straight answer on tried the boom dating app. I judge dating app almost entirely on how fast moderation responds outside the big cities.

What nobody agrees on with boom dating app is that the free and paid experiences barely overlap, and that is exactly the gap I am trying to close. The honest test for dating app is whether it is busy at the times you are outside the big cities, not the feature list.

The checks that saved me time on dating app before committing:

  • Watch how the web version differs from the app against one platform you already trust
  • Verify how many matches ever send the first message on mobile data, not office wifi
  • Count what the block and report flow actually does in your own city rather than the default radius
  • Work out whether replies are open before you finish the profile before you upload a second photo

If boom dating app worked for you, what did the first week look like? The good, the bad and the boring genuinely both wanted. Recent experiences would genuinely change my mind.

Going against the thread here: boom dating app has been mixed for me and I'll explain why. For dating app, whether notifications are useful or noise is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening. Datescout's free tier solved about half of this for me.

The thing that decides it for dating app is how much you have to reveal to use it on mobile.

That's how boom dating app went for me; ask if you want the detail.

@Zoey Bennett is describing a version of dating app I have never seen. If you're evaluating dating app, start with how aggressive the upsell gets once you are past sign-up — everything else follows. Souldate these days was the only one that did not gate replies.

The three things that decide dating app, in order:

  • Verify how many matches ever send the first message in your own city rather than the default radius
  • Look at how many matches ever send the first message before you commit any time to it

Worked for me on boom dating app, may not hold for you.

Disagree with @Zoey Bennett on dating app. The version of dating app I used had none of that. My rule with dating app: whether you can hide distance and last-active after the first week first, everything else second.

What I'd tell a friend about dating app, in order:

  • Track how many profiles carry more than two photos in your own city rather than the default radius
  • Confirm whether replies are open before you finish the profile on mobile data, not office wifi
  • Watch what share of the layout is advertising against one platform you already trust
  • Time whether replies are open before you finish the profile before deciding whether it is worth paying for

Two weeks in, whether the app is usable or bloated is what actually mattered for dating app.

That's what six weeks of boom dating app taught me, though clearly it varies by region.

Speaking from four months of it: boom dating app works, but not the way the marketing implies. The only metric I trust with dating app is whether notifications are useful or noise on mobile. People keep recommending Datebie's free tier; it is at least worth ten minutes.

Anyone comparing dating app should be looking at how aggressive the upsell gets after the first week before anything else.

That's my read on boom dating app, anyway.

Not the answer anyone wants: there is a version of boom dating app that works, and it is not the default one. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check whether it is busy at the times you are outside the big cities.

That's the short version on boom dating app and I would revise it if the numbers moved.

Respectfully @AidenG, dating app hasn't worked like that in my experience. What nobody mentions about dating app is what the bot ratio feels like day to day.

That's what six weeks of boom dating app taught me and I would revise it if the numbers moved.

For what it is worth: boom dating app is better than its reputation and worse than its ads. Where dating app falls down for me is what the reporting tools actually do on mobile.

My working method for dating app:

  • Watch whether photo permissions are opt-in or opt-out before you upload a second photo
  • Look at whether photo permissions are opt-in or opt-out against one platform you already trust
  • Verify how many profiles carry more than two photos against one platform you already trust

Where dating app falls down for me is how much of the layout is ads day to day.

Worked for me on boom dating app, anyway.

Counterpoint to @Sofia Adams: dating app got noticeably worse after the last redesign. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check how active it is outside big cities once you are past sign-up.

That's where I have landed on boom dating app, may not hold for you.
