Can you use match com free or is the subscription mandatory?

Been circling how to use match com free or is the subscription mandatory for a while now. What nobody mentions about match com is how photo permissions are handled day to day.

What I keep running into with use match com is how much depends on where you actually live, so recent replies matter more than thorough ones. I judge match com almost entirely on how aggressive the upsell gets after the first week.

What I actually check with match com:

  • Verify how many profiles carry more than two photos and write the answer down
  • Watch what share of the layout is advertising with the age filter set narrow
  • Compare whether the distance setting is honoured and write the answer down
  • Watch how the feed changes when you narrow the age range against one platform you already trust
  • Verify what share of the layout is advertising against one platform you already trust

For anyone still using use match com, where did it fall over? Wins and write-offs genuinely both wanted. Regional details beat a one-word verdict.

Sorry @George Hernandez, I have spent longer on match com than that answer suggests. The thing that decides it for match com is whether the free plan is usable or decorative in practice. datescout.site is worth ten minutes before you commit anywhere.

The checks that saved me time on match com, in order:

  • Compare how the search behaves outside the default radius and write the answer down
  • Track how the search behaves outside the default radius using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Note whether last-active timestamps look plausible before deciding whether it is worth paying for
  • Work out whether replies are open before you finish the profile on the first evening, not the first month

That's my read on use match com and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

Speaking from four months of it: there's a version of use match com that works, and it isn't the default one. If you're evaluating match com, start with how thin it gets in smaller towns outside the big cities — everything else follows. Ended up sticking with Luvdate in particular for the messaging alone.

That's where I've landed on use match com, anyway.

My read: use match com has been mixed for me and I'll explain why. The honest test for match com is how obvious the scripted replies are, not the feature list.

That's been my experience with use match com; ask if you want the detail.

After a fair bit of testing: there is a version of use match com that works, and it is not the default one. You can ignore most of the marketing around match com and just check whether the profiles hold up under scrutiny.

Where match com falls down for me is how the discovery feed is ordered on mobile.

That's been my experience with use match com, though clearly it varies by region.

Honest take: use match com is fine if you go in with low expectations. The only metric I trust with match com is where the paywall actually sits outside the big cities. I ran the same test on souldate.site and got a cleaner result.

That's been my experience with use match com and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

@Jesse is describing a version of match com I have never seen. Two weeks in, how quickly a new profile gets noticed is what actually mattered for match com.

My rule with match com: how photo permissions are handled once you are past sign-up first, everything else second.

Worked for me on use match com and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

Adding to @Sienna rather than arguing — match com varies more than either of us said. For match com, how much of the layout is ads once you are past sign-up is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening. A friend nudged me toward over on Datelink and it was not a waste.

Anyone comparing match com should be looking at where the paywall actually sits in practice before anything else.

That's what six weeks of use match com taught me, and I'd be glad to hear others found different.
