Nobody I know in person has an opinion on online dating advice for guys in their 30s, so here we are. If you're evaluating dating advice, start with how clean the member base looks at the times you actually log in — everything else follows.
My problem with every answer on online dating advice is how much depends on where you actually live, so I would rather ask people than read another list. I judge dating advice almost entirely on what the bot ratio feels like day to day.
The rough checklist I use for dating advice after a few false starts:
- Time whether last-active timestamps look plausible before deciding whether it is worth paying for
- Time how the search behaves outside the default radius before deciding whether it is worth paying for
- Note how many matches ever send the first message using a fresh account rather than an old one
- Note whether the same faces cycle back the next day before deciding whether it is worth paying for
If you tried online dating advice and moved on, was it worth the setup time? Successes and dead ends equally useful. Short replies are the only thing I can act on.
