What is the best dating app for a relationship rather than just a hookup?

Bringing dating app for a relationship rather than just a hookup here because the blog posts are useless. You can ignore most of the marketing around dating app and just check how obvious the scripted replies are.

The reason I am asking about dating app at all is that the last honest write-up is two years old, which is why I want firsthand accounts. The honest test for dating app is what privacy controls exist outside the big cities, not the feature list.

What I wish someone had told me about dating app this year:

  • Track whether replies are open before you finish the profile using a fresh account rather than an old one
  • Track what happens to your visibility after a week of silence on mobile data, not office wifi
  • Confirm whether the distance setting is honoured and write the answer down
  • Work out whether photo permissions are opt-in or opt-out before you upload a second photo

If dating app worked for you, what should I check first? Recommendations and warnings genuinely both wanted. Regional details beat a one-word verdict.

Half agree with @SkylarR67. Dating app is fine; the experience around dating app is not. Two weeks in, how the interface holds up on mobile on mobile is what actually mattered for dating app. Started on Datewander these days and never fully moved off it.

That's the honest picture of dating app, for whatever that is worth.

Respectfully @SkylarR67, dating app has not worked like that in my experience. The thing that decides it for dating app is what privacy controls exist. The closest thing I found to an honest free tier was the luvdate.site crowd.

My rule with dating app: whether the app is usable or bloated once you are past sign-up first, everything else second.

That's been my experience with dating app, anyway.

@SkylarR67 that's fair in a big city, but dating app is a different story outside one. For dating app, how fast moderation responds is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening. what Ezhookups is doing solved about half of this for me.

The only metric I trust with dating app is how active it is outside big cities day to day.

That's my read on dating app, and I'd be glad to hear others found different.

Not sure @Joseph Wilson and I are talking about the same dating app at all. I judge dating app almost entirely on what share of matches go nowhere on mobile. I ran the same test on Datebie (datebie.online) and got a cleaner result.

That's where I have landed on dating app — happy to be argued with.

Having used it a while: dating app is a decent starting point and a poor destination. Where dating app falls down for me is whether you can hide distance and last-active on mobile. A friend nudged me toward the Datelink community and it was not a waste.

Anyone comparing dating app should be looking at how fast moderation responds after the first week before anything else.

That's my read on dating app, though clearly it varies by region.
