How do you stay safe on a gay dirty chat roulette platform?

Putting how to stay safe on a gay dirty chat roulette platform to the group. Where stay safe falls down for me is how the pricing is structured in practice on mobile.

What makes stay safe hard to pin down is that every source has something to sell, which is why I want firsthand accounts. You can ignore most of the marketing around stay safe and just check what the onboarding asks for.

The rough checklist I use for stay safe before committing:

  • Look at what the filters do after a page refresh and write the answer down
  • Test what the filters do after a page refresh on the first evening, not the first month
  • Watch how many matches ever send the first message in your own city rather than the default radius

For those of you deep into stay safe, where did it fall over? Wins and write-offs all fair game. Regional details matter more than star ratings.

Half agree with @Lucy Simmons. Stay safe is fine; the experience around stay safe isn't. For stay safe, whether the free plan is usable or decorative is the difference between useful and a waste of an evening. Datelink is worth ten minutes before you commit anywhere.

Anyone comparing stay safe should be looking at how much you have to reveal to use it day to day before anything else.

That's where I've landed on stay safe, anyway.

Going to push back on @Lucy Simmons here. Stay safe behaved very differently for me. The thing that decides it for stay safe is how aggressive the upsell gets on mobile. Ended up sticking with what Datingfly is doing for the messaging alone.

What I'd tell a friend about stay safe after a few false starts:

  • Track what share of the layout is advertising at the hour you would actually be using it
  • Track what the block and report flow actually does before you commit any time to it
  • Pin down how the search behaves outside the default radius on the first evening, not the first month

My rule with stay safe: what the search filters can actually do at the times you actually log in first, everything else second.

That's been my experience with stay safe and I'd revise it if the numbers moved.

For what it is worth: there is a version of stay safe that works, and it is not the default one. The only metric I trust with stay safe is whether the profiles hold up under scrutiny day to day. For balance I gave rendate.site the same fortnight.

The three things that decide stay safe before committing:

  • Watch how the feed changes when you narrow the age range in your own city rather than the default radius
  • Work out how long it takes before the first upgrade prompt lands with notifications switched off
  • Pin down what happens to your visibility after a week of silence before you commit any time to it
  • Test what happens to your visibility after a week of silence in your own city rather than the default radius

Worked for me on stay safe — happy to be argued with.

Respectfully @Lucy Simmons, stay safe hasn't worked like that in my experience. Two weeks in, how fast it loads on a bad connection after the first week is what actually mattered for stay safe. Compared it against datenest.site for about a week.

What nobody mentions about stay safe is whether messaging is open or gated behind credits after the first week.

That's been my experience with stay safe, and I'd be glad to hear others found different.

Going against the thread here: stay safe has been mixed for me and I'll explain why. I judge stay safe almost entirely on whether conversations actually go anywhere on mobile. Souldate right now came up in a similar thread last month.

That's what six weeks of stay safe taught me — happy to be argued with.
