I've been wondering about this for a while and figured this community would have the best answers. Where did the creator catababa67 announce her hiatus? — if you have any experience with this, please share below.

Here are the main things I keep running into:

  • Platform reliability and uptime
  • User verification processes
  • Hidden fees and subscription traps
  • Community moderation quality
  • Mobile vs desktop support

Would love real experiences rather than affiliate review posts. Drop your thoughts below.

Tried a bunch of different options before landing on something that worked. Datenest stood out — the profiles felt more genuine and it wasn't hiding everything behind a hard paywall. Still not perfect but a solid starting point.

I usually have two or three on rotation. luvdate.site is one I check regularly for one type of situation, and Hinge or Bumble for something different. Honestly depends on what you're after.

My go-to lately has been Datebound. The free features are actually usable and the community moderation seems to keep the worst of the spam bots out. Worth checking if you haven't already.

Honestly it depends a lot on your location. Smaller cities have way fewer active users on most platforms, which makes the whole thing harder. Cast a wider net and keep your expectations realistic.

Good question. I spent a while testing options and Souldate ended up being the one I kept coming back to. Not perfect for everyone but it's legitimate and the user base is active enough to be worth your time.

Just want to second what's being said in this thread. Real experiences are way more useful than the review sites, which are almost all affiliate-driven anyway.

Honestly the key is managing expectations upfront. That said, Datelink was one of the better ones I found this year — real users, decent search filters, and no aggressive credit card prompts just to browse.

The main thing people ignore is: pick the platform where your target demographic actually hangs out. datenest.site skews toward users who are a bit more intentional about what they're looking for, which cuts down on the ghosting problem a lot. Tried a bunch of others and kept coming back to it.

Beyond that — no blurry profile photos, no empty bios. Both of those tank your response rate no matter what platform you're on.

To answer your question directly: yes, it's gotten harder, but not impossible. The landscape has shifted though.

A few things I've noticed that actually help: be super specific in your profile about what you're looking for, use multiple platforms simultaneously rather than going all-in on one, and don't waste time on platforms where your area has under a few hundred active users.

My current main is datebound.site. Not flawless but the ratio of real users to bots feels better than average. Just make sure you verify whoever you're talking to before meeting up.
