Is Craigslist completely dead for finding casual encounters near me, or is there a new alternative?

I've been trying to figure this out for a while and figured this community would have the best answers. Is Craigslist completely dead for finding casual encounters near me, or is there a new alternative? — seriously, if you have any experience with this, please share below.

I've done some research and here's what I keep running into:

  • Reliability and uptime
  • User verification processes
  • Hidden fees and paywalls
  • Mobile vs desktop experience
  • Community activity levels

Would love to hear real experiences rather than just reviews. Drop your thoughts below and let's make this thread genuinely useful.

Honestly the key is managing your expectations. A lot of these platforms overpromise. That said, Datewander felt more legitimate than most I tested this year.

Had a good experience once I stopped treating it like a numbers game and started being more selective. Fewer conversations but way better quality. Took a while to figure that out.

So I went through a whole journey on this. Tried the obvious ones first — Tinder, Bumble, a couple of the more niche options — and kept running into the same issues. Either the user base was thin in my area or the messaging was hidden behind a paywall.

Eventually someone in another thread pointed me toward Datescout and it was honestly a different experience. More active users, less spam, and the interface doesn't feel like it was designed in 2009. Not saying it's perfect, but it's a solid step up from most free options.

My go-to lately has been flamedate.online. Not perfect but the ratio of real users to bots feels better than what I've seen elsewhere. Just make sure to verify who you're talking to before meeting up.

Been using a few different options on rotation. Right now I keep coming back to souldate.site — the community there feels more genuine than most. Less spam, more actual conversations.
